Our accumulated personal experience, coupled with direct observation and participation in the engagement at every stage, generates uncommon value to the client. We enjoy our clients. We enjoy problem solving. We like doing the work.
Many firms interested in Morgan and its services invite us for a face-to-face meeting. Unlike many firms, the person (or people) who come to the interview will be the people who perform the work; you will see them throughout the duration of the engagement. As former practitioners, we remember the disappointment—and hassle—of being attracted to talented advisors only to see them turn the job over to assistants who were seeing our problems for the first time.
We often meet prospective clients who seek “creative” solutions. This usually begins with a problem that has resisted several attempted solutions. We embrace creativity within your organization, encourage it, and make it happen. However, we have found that creativity is a means to an end, and an always-disappointing substitute for effective solutions.
When clients hire us they typically want four things:
- a solution to a problem
- experience
- hands-on involvement, and
- a fresh, independent look at things.
A solution that won’t work—or doesn’t work—isn’t a solution. A good idea isn’t a good idea if it won’t work in practice. Our motto—practical and effective solutions—is what we bring.
We bring experience from both sides of the desk; we’ve been in your seat, and know your pressures and problems. We bring experience with creativity and imagination, but not for their own sake. We bring them when they are relevant. Likewise, when the experience of other organizations is relevant, we bring that. But we’ve learned that all healthcare is local, so we are loathe to propose “one size fits all” solutions.
Our personal involvement assures informed perspectives and effective engagement administration. Clients want counsel, but they also want counselors who can administer an engagement in a planned, orderly way. We review workplans and schedules with clients before and throughout our engagements.
When we give a fresh look, we report on what we see, not what we saw in the last place we worked. Every hospital, every medical staff, and every board is unique.
